WRI’s assessment
Russia’s Logistics Growth Index fell to 44.6 in September 2026, a 0.5-point decline that left the reading below its three-month average. The contraction was primarily driven by a sharp drop in transportation and a deeper contraction in business volume, as infrastructure disruptions curtailed rail freight and fossil fuel exports while industrial production slipped.
“Russia’s logistics networks were under acute stress in September. Sustained disruption to infrastructure sharply cut rail freight and fuel exports, pulling the reading down, and physical damage to major e-commerce distribution centres hit warehousing hard.”
