WRI’s assessment
The Germany Logistics Growth Index edged up to 49.7 in September 2026, a marginal 0.1-point gain that leaves the headline exactly in line with its three-month average. The modest improvement was primarily driven by expanding business volume and sentiment, supported by sustained factory activity and improving corporate confidence, alongside robust warehousing activity characterized by strong leasing momentum.
“Critically low river levels restricted barge traffic in September, offsetting part of the gains from steady factory growth and brisk warehouse leasing, with several sites fully let. German logistics remains in slight contraction.”
