Changes and ranks are calculated from unrounded readings, so a change can differ by 0.1 from the difference of the rounded figures shown, and economies with the same rounded reading can hold different ranks.
WRI’s assessment
China’s Logistics Growth Index edged up to 50.1 in September, a marginal 0.1-point gain that kept the headline in line with its three-month average. The modest expansion was primarily driven by the Business Volume Index, which rose to 51.2 as factory production and new export orders returned to growth, and the Transportation Index, which advanced to 52.5 on robust outbound sales and elevated ocean freight rates.
“China’s logistics sector grew only modestly in September, and the gains were narrowly based. A recovery in factory output and export orders gave the biggest lift, while severe port congestion tied up shipping space and warehousing slipped back.”
