WRI’s assessment
Canada’s Logistics Growth Index eased slightly to 52.7 in September, remaining above its three-month average and securing second place among five regional peers. The headline was primarily supported by robust rail freight volumes and e-commerce-driven demand for logistics space, which propelled the Transportation and Warehousing indices higher.
“A narrower trade surplus, uneven domestic demand and tariff worries among manufacturers took a little off Canada’s logistics growth in September. But rail freight, grain shipments and e-commerce demand for large warehouses kept the sector growing solidly.”
