WRI’s assessment
Belgium’s Logistics Growth Index slipped to 45.9 in September, a decline of 0.3 that left the reading below its three-month average. The contraction was primarily driven by the Business Volume and Transportation indices, which fell as domestic demand softened and key port infrastructure renewals weighed on throughput.
“Belgium’s logistics sector was squeezed at home and at the ports in September: household purchasing power eroded, and infrastructure works held down cargo volumes at the major hubs. Only one of the measures behind the reading grew, so the weakness was widespread.”
