WRI’s assessment

Austria’s Logistics Growth Index edged up to 50.1 in September 2026, rising 0.1 points to sit above its three-month average. The marginal expansion was primarily driven by a robust surge in the Business Volume Index, as factory activity and new orders accelerated to their fastest paces in over four years.

“Austria’s factories had a strong month, with new orders rising faster, but logistics growth was marginal and fragile: record-high diesel prices drove up road freight costs, and transport, warehousing and employment all remained in contraction.”
