WRI’s assessment

Argentina’s Logistics Growth Index advanced to 52.1 in September, a 0.3-point gain that kept the headline reading above its three-month average. The expansion was primarily driven by robust transportation activity, which expanded strongly despite port disruptions and pilotage strikes elevating berth delays, alongside expanding business volume that persisted against a backdrop of recent sharp contractions in manufacturing and trade.

“Transport led Argentina’s logistics growth in September: cargo kept moving in high volumes even though a pilots’ strike at major ports left ships waiting longer for a berth. Underlying demand was softer, with sharp falls in private consumption and industrial output.”
