WRI’s assessment

Algeria’s Logistics Growth Index eased to 49.5 in September, slipping 0.4 points and falling below its three-month average. The decline was primarily driven by contracting transport capacity and softer goods-for-sale flows, as geopolitical airspace restrictions constrained logistics networks and persistent inflation weighed on consumer purchasing power.

“In Algeria, new ferry routes could not offset the airspace restrictions squeezing transport capacity, and inflation kept eating into consumers’ purchasing power. Business volumes still grew, helped by strong maritime trade links, but the logistics sector contracted further in September.”
