WRI’s assessment
France’s Logistics Growth Index edged up to 46.0 in August 2026, still reflecting a broad contraction with only 3 of 10 sub-indices in expansion. The gain was primarily driven by the Transport Capacity Index, despite drags from the Business Volume and Transportation indices, as flat domestic output, falling manufacturing production, and a widening trade deficit weighed on freight activity, while surging fuel costs and expired subsidies severely pressured transport margins.
