WRI’s assessment
South Africa’s Logistics Growth Index eased to 50.9 in June, down 1.2 points from May, though remaining marginally in expansion. The moderation was primarily driven by a pullback in business volume, where manufacturing contraction and geopolitical headwinds offset resilient retail and mining activity, alongside easing transportation conditions despite recent fuel cost relief.
